Chasewater Railway Museum – Early 2017

Chasewater Railway Museum

Early 2017

The start of 2017 has seen several items added to the museum collection, amongst them being a Hornby ‘0’ gauge train set, kindly donated by Barry and Linda Brown from Burntwood.

The set comprises a small green 0-4-0 tender loco of the Hornby M1 series number 3435 together with two four-wheel Pullman coaches named Marjorie and Aurelia.

Also included in the boxed set was a quantity of track.

Barry had the set as a child in about 1949.  Confirmation of this date, if Barry had not been able to tell us, can be gleaned from the Hornby Companion Series ‘The Hornby Gauge 0 System’ which on perusal indicates tha the loco, although dating back to pre-war, only carried particular detail to Barry’s in the period 1948 to 1951.  The loco and coaches are already on display within our burgeoning collection of ‘0’ gauge tinplate, with the track placed in store.
